Victory Lane: Week Three Features Three Repeat Winners

Race action in the Victory Lane Karting Adult Winter League resumed on January 25th, with Round Three for all three classes running at the renowned North Carolina indoor facility. In a repeat of the previous week's action, Jordan Pembleton and Cody Robnett won the Lightweight and Heavyweight classes, while Branson McCannon was victorious in the Novice class.

Entering the night's activities, all eyes in the Lightweight division were on Pembleton, the current number one ranked IKN driver having won the opening two races of the season. Once again the karting standout lived up to the pressure, earning the pole position in qualifying, before capturing his third consecutive Lightweight win. That being said, it was not an easy affair. The championship leader came under constant pressure from fellow title contender Robnett and returning track standout Dan Burke, as well as Hans Soneson, Michael Ibach and Walt Sova. While Robnett was unable to find a way past before the checkered flag waved, he did post the fastest race lap en route to a second place finish. Burke completed the top-three in his first outing of the season, while Sonseon and Ibach finished fourth and fifth. Sova was awarded the Hard Charger bonus points with his sixth place result.

As expected, the battle for Heavyweight honors in week three featured a great mix of talented racers going head-to-head. Alex Gantt was the driver to watch early on, capturing the pole position with the fastest time in qualifying. While the series regular was in position to score the win from start-to-finish, it was not to be his night. Making the most of the fastest race lap, Robnett found a way past the polesitter, capturing his second consecutive Heavyweight win. Not far behind the duo, Andrew Von Fange completed the top-three, leading Soneson and Ibach, the Hard Charger award win, to the stripe.

Round Three of the Novice class witnessed a near repeat of the previous week's action, as McCannon and 'Crash' battled for the race win from start-to-finish. The end result, was McCannon converting his pole position into a second consecutive class win over 'Crash', setting the fastest race lap in the process. Series newcomer Bryan Coe joined in the podium celebrations, leading 'Max' and Brent Robertson to the checkered flag.

Round Four of the Victory Lane Karting Adult Winter League took place February 1, at the Charlotte, N.C. indoor kart facility. A full report will be posted on IKN shortly. Entering the event, Pembleton held a 41-point advantage over Robnett in the Lightweight class. Robnett however led the way in the Heavyweight class, 34-points in front on Soneson. 'Crash' topped the Novice class standings, 10 points ahead of Robertson.
