Xtreme Indoor: Championship Leaders Extend Advantage in Week 2

The second round of the 2010 Xtreme Indoor Karting All Ages Winter League took place on January 26, with a talented mix of drivers battling for top honors in the Lightweight and Heavyweight classes. After a night of heated competition on a new track layout run backwards at the Florida indoor facility, Eddie Pardo emerged with the Lightweight win, while Julian Castro was victorious in Heavyweight.

As fans of the Xtreme Indoor Karting leagues have come to expect, qualifying for Round Two of the Lightweight class proved to be highly entertaining. Dario Echeverrey was the man to beat, turning a fast time of 29.07 to edge Castro (29.08) for the pole position. Pardo turned the third quickest time, ahead of Jean Hoy and Jason Drescher. Castro improved one place in Heavyweight qualifying, posting a time of 28.76 to score the pole over 'Raider X'. Echeverrey earned a third place starting position, while Ronnie Simon and Michael Moxley completed the top-five.

When the green flag waved for the Lightweight race, Pardo immediately made his presence know, finding a way past both Castro and Echeverrey. Turning the fastest lap of the race (28.12), the championship leader scored the win over Echeverrey. Hoy joined in the podium celebrations, crossing the stripe in third, ahead of Drescher. 'The Wizard' completed the top-five in race two of 2010.

After a short break, it was time for the Heavyweight class. Starting P1, Castro controlled the 30-lap affair from start-to-finish, turning the fastest lap (28.90) en route to the win. Not far behind the championship leader, Echeverrey found a way past 'Raider X' to finish second. Moxley completed the top-three, passing two racers to cross the stripe in front of Simon and Robert Stevenson.

The Xtreme Indoor Karting All Ages Winter League resumed on February 2nd, with Round Three at the Fort Lauderdale indoor karting facility.
