Golden Benny: Morris Sweeps Round Two

The 2010 Golden Benny Karting League racers returned to action on February 3rd, with Round Two at Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte, N.C. At the conclusion of the traditional doubleheader night, Jake Morris had enjoyed a clean sweep with wins in both races.

In the first race, Morris teamed with Jade Gurss for the victory over Glenn Jamieson/Jamil Nassar and John Connaughton/Darren Crane. While Walt Sova and Matt Henry ended the race at the rear of the field, Sova took the honor for the fastest lap of the race.

In the finale, Connaughton and Morris took home a clear victory, leading John Reaney/Jamil Nassar and Hans Soneson/Michael Pomeroy to the checkered flag. Soneson grabbed the fastest lap of the race as well, with the only sub-44 second lap of the night.

With the Round Two sweep, Morris not only took home the monthly Golden Benny trophy with the maximum 36 points, but was automatic promoted to the "A" category for his next event.

With two events in the record books, Gurss continues to lead the championship fight with 64 points. The victory by Connaughton moves him into the second position in the point standings, just two points adrift, while Nassar's two runner-up results advanced him to third in the title chase.

Next up for the Golden Benny Karting League competitors is Round Three on March 3, at Victory Lane Karting in North Carolina.
